AZTEC TREASURE CAVE
REPORTED AMERICANS FOUND
AND RIFLED ONE NEAR YESCA.
Hermadillo, Mexico Nov. 14 --Father
Pablo Martion, the parish priest of Yesca,
has reported to the government authorities
a remarkable tale of the discovery
of an Aztec treasure horde.
A party of Americans headed by an
archaeologic expert, who gave the name
of Heverick, arrived at Yesca several
weeks ago, and went into the mountains
with three Mexican guides. Heverick
followed a chart which he said was
copied from an Aztec stone tablet in the
National Museum in the city of Mexico.
He located a great cavern in the
mountains in which stood scores of
huge stone images. At one end was
a massive altar, above which burned a
clear light. It was natural gas, piped
from a crevice in the wall.
In a nearby chamber was a great
store of ornaments and utensils. The
guides say more treasure was found.
Twelve burros were used to transport
the stuff to San Blas. Whence it was
shipped to San Francisco. As such articles
cannot be removed from the
country without the consent of the
government, an investigation will be held.
